Service Type

• The phiC31 (ΦC31) integrase system allows for site-specific integration of transgenes at high efficiency. One can obtain transgenes at a desired location with characterized position effect to reduce number of transgenic stocks kept. References: Bischof et al. (2007) PNAS, Groth et al. (2004) Genetics, Venken et al. (2006) Science, FlyC31.
• The P-element transposon mediated transformation is mostly random can land almost anywhere in the genome. Depending on where the P-element lands, it sometimes comes under the influence of nearby enhancers or silencers, which have position effect and do affect a transgene's expression.
• The P[acman] vector permits cloning of any size fragment of DNA for genomic rescue transformation. The vector is equipped with two origins of replication such that under the appropriate conditions the cloned plasmid can be replicated in high copy number (to amplify for molecular biology manipulations) or at low copy number (to stably maintain the large plasmid and ensure efficient and accurate recombineering). • The PiggyBac transposable element is an effective gene transfer vector across insect species. It is currently the most widely used transposon system for genetic manipulations for its broad host range. It recognizes short target sites, TTAA, and shows precise excision.
